Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 am–3 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (570) 599-6240. After living in Philly for 12 years, I moved back to NEPA and was missing the awesomeness of a local coffee shop. Thankfully, Grateful Roast is just a short walk from work, and they have delivered the goods! I've now had brewed coffee, cold brew (both versions), chai, and a latte, in addition to the (super delicious) baked goods. I have absolutely loved EVERYTHING. The New Orleans Cold Brew and Earl Grey chocolate chip muffins are my favorites at this point. Online ordering has also proved to be extremely convenient and easy. I can just time it with an upcoming break at work, and it's ready when I arrive! On top of that, both Jimmy and Michaela are excellent baristas, and it's always a pleasure stopping in to see them. If you live and/or work in the Abingtons and haven't stopped by, what are you waiting for?

I was looking for a quality coffee shop on my travels and found this spot so I hopped off the highway and it was worth the stop. I ended up trying the Kyoto Cold Drip. It was delicious. Different. I've never had anything quite like it. I believe it's a special type of cold brew with chicory, vanilla, and oat milk. I also tried the cardamom blueberry scone. It was delicious. I'd like more cardamom so I could taste it but it was still good! The other baked goods all looked delicious. Made from scratch in house. I love these types of quality coffee shops. The staff was friendly too! I'll absolutely return any time I come through and highly recommend supporting this local coffee shop.

I stopped by Greatful Roast today and left with mixed feelings. The shop is great, the staff was nice, the greenery around the space was blossoming, but my drink was terrible. I didn't take a big sip until I left, so I wasn't able to speak to the staff. It tasted like nothing and with a tip it was over $8. Very disappointing.

Really enjoyed stopping in on a recent Sunday. The two piece band (guitar and clarinet I believe?) really set the mood. The staff, particularly the young woman behind the counter, was very friendly and accommodating. Also thoroughly enjoyed my espresso (with frozen blueberries) and a chocolate chip muffin!

What a wonderful experience finding a coffee shop in the states that makes a traditional (Italian) Macchiato. Also had a dirty chai that was yummy. Madison the super nice and friendly barista taught me all about coffee β€œsyphone” can’t wait to tell the folks back home in Italy. Love the very non corporate vibe.
